Ronald Masuyoshi Samori, age 75, passed away on July 17, 2020. The oldest child of Kenneth and Betty Samori, he graduated from Kaimuki High School, and proudly served 3 tours in the Vietnam War. Ronald was a baker for Whole Foods, Kahala. He is survived by his wife Henrietta, son Alexander, daughter Shelby Ann, sister Sandra, and brother Alan. Private services were held.

Alfred Koon Inn Wong

Alfred Koon Inn Wong, 95, of Nuuanu, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2020. He was born in Honolulu on July 3, 1925. He was known as "China" to his friends.

Alfred attended McKinley High School and joined the Navy during World War II. He left the Navy after the war ended and worked as an aircraft mechanic at Hickam Air Force Base until he retired.

He was a Master Mason of the Hawaiian Lodge and a member of Wong Kong Har Tong Society. Alfred was always making jokes and enjoyed entertaining with the ukulele. He spent many weekends serving with the Honolulu Police Reserves and he received the Honolulu Police Department Medal Of Merit (Badge 645) in 1965. At that time he was the only police reserve to receive that honor. He was also a Deputy Sheriff for many years. He loved going to Koko Head shooting range and continued to be active there well past retirement. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Doris; daughter, Sherrilynn Leong (Leonard); sister, Victoria Pond; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Lorri Ann Sumida. Private interment at Punchbowl National Cemetery.

58, of Waipahu, passed away on May 14, 2020. Born in Honolulu, she was a pharmaceutical buyer for Kapiolani Medical Center. She is survived by her sons, Sterling and Bronson; brother, Karl (Marlinda) Nakasone and sister, Renee (Joaquin) Aquino; nieces and nephews. Private services held.

John Toshiyuki Kitashiro

95, of Honolulu, passed away on June 30, 2020. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired engineer for Hawaiian Telephone Co. Preceded in death by wife, Alice, he is survived by sons, Guy and Dan (Iris) Kitashiro; daughters, Ann (Wayne) Kodama, Jan (Fritz) Wuerfel and Joy (Jovi) Santiago; six grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; sisters, Laura Onouye and Mae Taketa. Private services held.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret and sons Alan Oto (Hazel) and Michael Oto (Marcia), daughter Patti McNamara (David), grandchildren (Courtney, Kyle, Keiko, Samantha, Brooke, Melanie, Jessica and Taylor) and great-grandchild (Laeth). He was predeceased by his son Carl Oto.

97, of Honolulu, passed away on July 2, 2020. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired city and county employee. He served in the Military Intelligence Service division during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Nakahara); daughters, Karen (Mike) Yamamoto, Evelyn, and Gail; grandchildren, Ryan Yamamoto and Kristen (Clinton) Ono; great- grandchildren, Caleb and Logan Ono; brothers, George (Maile), James (Lynette), and Harry (Karen); and sister, May (Sidney) Kan. Roy Shoji Mikami

93, of Honolulu, HI, passed away, peacefully, on February 20, 2020 with family at his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Tsutako. He is survived by his children, Colleen (Theodore) Inouye, Russell (Gloria) Mikami, and Karen (Karl) Bizjak; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Roy was a US Army veteran and a master plumber. He supported his children in education and was thrilled when they graduated, married and paddled their own canoe. After retirement, Roy enjoyed golfing and traveling with his family.

A private memorial was held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Donations in his memory may be made to Koboji Shingon Mission.
