Yoichi Tamura

Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Yoichi Tamura passed away peacefully at Kuakini Hospital, Honolulu on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020 at the age of 95. He was born in Lawai, Kauai on June 4, 1924 to Yokichi and Yoshino Tamura, the first of 3 boys. They grew up in that plantation community and he graduated from Kauai HS in 1942. Shortly after, he enlisted in the US Army and was assigned to Company F of the 442nd Regiment, where he was sent to Italy to be part of their war efforts in WWII. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant before being discharged in 1945. Attending the U of Hawaii using the GI Bill, he earned his business degree and was hired by the U.S. Customs Service where he became a Supvy Import Specialist before retiring in 1980 after 30+ years. Shortly after returning from the war, he married the love of his life, Hilda and raised 2 children together in Honolulu. He also was big brother (Yoichi-Niisan) to both his brothers and Hilda's many siblings, and their home was Family-Central while their siblings attended UH or worked in Honolulu. He divided his time between his family and golf to keep balanced, and loved to visit Las Vegas. He was also involved in Sheridan AC and the UH Rainbow Baseball Boosters. Yoichi is preceded in passing by his parents, Yokichi and Yoshino, brothers Satoru and Bunkichi, wife, Hilda (Shimomura), siblings-in-law Allen, Bunji, and Barbara. He is survived by his children, Keith, and Susan Hirokane (Gary), and his grandchildren, Shannon and Gavin; in-laws Elsie Tamura, Nancy Miyamoto (Hank) and Dan Shimomura (Judy), 10 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, 3/22/2020 at Hosoi Mortuary: Visitation, 11am, Services 12noon.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Trixie); daughter, Stella Oshiro (Edward); daughter-in-law, Cheryl Teruya; seven grand- children; three great-grandchildren. Services will be held March 19, 2020 (Thursday) @ Hosoi Garden Mortuary 11 AM; visitation 10 AM. Aloha attire, No flowers.

83, of Honolulu, passed away on February 22, 2020 at Straub Medical Center. He was a Shop 51 shipboard electrical systems tester at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard for over fifty-five years and a US Army Veteran. He is survived by wife Chong Soon Choi, daughter Iris, grand- children Christopher and Sasha, brother Clyde, sisters Jean Hayashi, Gail (Wayne) Miyamoto, Patsy (Gary) Matsuda, and sister-in-law, Roxanne Uyema. He was predeceased by son, Justin Uyema. Visitation: 5:00pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 6:00pm. Private inurnment at National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific at Punchbowl.

77, of Honolulu, retired co-owner of G.K.O. Corporation, passed away on February 14, 2020 at Kuakini Medical Center. She was born in Wahiawa. She is survived by her husband, Glenn; sons, Steve (Keiko) and Todd; daughter, Michelle Okada; sisters, Edna (James) Miyahara and Karen (Earl) Wakamura; and grandchildren, Kai and Rae. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service begins at 11:00 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

85, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2020 in Honolulu. She was born March 23, 1934 in Honolulu. She was a self employed hairdresser at Jean's Beauty Salon in Kaimuki. Predeceased by husband Ronald Mitsuo; daughter, Rona Kasashima; son, Ronald Jr.; sister, Alice Nunotani; and parents, James and Esther Inouye. She is survived by daughter Jodie Masuda of Lihue, Kauai. Brothers, Wallace Inouye of Riverside, CA; Ronald (Elaine) Inouye of Kaneohe, HI; Sister, Joyce Martines of Hilo, HI; 6 grandchildren, Kristal Masuda, Kellie (Richard) Liu, Kori (Greg) Ciarlante, Rachel Kasashima, Shannon and Sean Nagaoka; 2 great grandchildren, Riley and Evan Liu; numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Honolulu, he was a Air Force Veteran, retired FAA employee with 36 years of service and a real estate broker, dba Platinum Properties. After retirement, he volunteered at CrimeStoppers Honolulu for ten years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Carol; daughters, Terri-Ann (Timothy) Mehlhorn and Wendy (Daniel) Hamada; 4 grandchildren, Bryson Hamada, Marc Mehlhorn, Vance Hamada and Elizabeth Mehlhorn, and brother, Leslie Hayashida. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary; service at 11:00 a.m.

Sadao “Sada” Yamashita

93, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2020. Sada, as he was known to his friends, was born in Papaikou Hawaii, the 6th of seven children. He graduated from Hilo High School, Class of 1944, entered the service in 1945 and discharged in 1947. He started work as a carpenter, then moved to Matson where he became a stevedore and supervisor until his retirement. Sadao is survived by his wife Tamiko and three sons Arnold (Janey), Brice and Craig (Yuri) all of Honolulu. He is also survived by his brother Mitsuru Yamashita of Papaikou Hawaii and many nieces and nephews. Private services were held with interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

91, of Pearl City, a Korean War Army veteran and retired budget analyst for the Department of Defense, passed away on January 29, 2020. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; son, Peter (Elizabeth Lee); sister, Marilyn Kuroda; and grandson, Carter. Private services were held.
