Jane Eiko (Takasaki) Sato
95, died peacefully Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Honolulu. She was born in Honolulu, Hawai'i on October 19, 1921. She was the only child of Masakazu and Shizuyo (Kurata) Takasaki. Jane was a graduate of McKinley High School, Class of 1939, where she met her future husband, Barney Sato, Class of 1938. After high school she attended the Margaret Dietz Commercial School and finishing school in Japan. In 1946, she married Barney "Shige" Sato and subsequently helped in the family business, Sato Clothiers, Ltd. for many years. She supported Barney in his career, extra-curricular sports activities, and charitable pursuits. While raising three children, Barney and Jane enjoyed traveling the world, were active in the Ala Moana Lions, and pursued the perfect golf swing. A "tomboy in her early years, Jane was a modern individual who was eager to keep up with current ideas. She was also an excellent seamstress, dressed well, and loved to follow the new fashion trends. Her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren, her dear long- time friendships, and "that" once- in-a-lifetime hole-in-one at Mid- Pacific Golf Club. She continued to have fond memories of her childhood days with the friends of Pu'unui Street and Serreno Lane. She is survived by children: Daryl (Amy) Sato, Linda (Frederic) Sato-Juras, and Myron (Sharlyn) Sato; five grandchildren; Mele, Kimi, Mari, Keola and Kari; and one great-grandchild, Mia. Private family services were held at Punchbowl on October 23.

Ruby Y. Nakashima
Ruby Yaeko (Yokoyama) Nakashima passed away on Oct. 5, 2017. Born in Holualoa, Kona Hawaii into a family of two brothers and three sisters, she graduated from Konawaena High School and moved to Honolulu in 1948. In 1951 she married Kenneth Hiroshi Nakashima. A devoted wife and mother, Ruby is survived by husband Kenneth, son Leslie and his wife and daughter, Anne Gauldin and Lianna Nakashima, of Los Angeles, CA and daughter Karen Stern and her husband and son, Ralph and Matthew Stern of Ann Arbor, MI. She is also survived by her sister, Edna Otsuka of Kailua, Kona. Services will be private and the family requests no koden.

Esther Michiko Goto
85, of Honolulu, a retired teacher at Aina Hina Elementary School, passed away on October 10, 2017 at home. She was born in Honolulu and a graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute and Northwestern University. Esther taught school in New Jersey, California and in Germany before returning to teach at the DOE. She was a worldwide traveler having visited all continents, including Antarctica. She is survived by brothers, John, Samuel (Patsy) and James (Noriko) Goto; and by nieces and nephews. 87, of Honolulu, died September 28, 2017. She was born in China on May 28, 1930. She was seamstress for several prominent local aloha shirt factories and later worked for many years as a sales associate at Duty Free Shoppers in Waikiki. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Allison), Wallace (Mildred) and Henry; 3 grandchildren, Diane, Robert "Trebor" and Troy. Brother Tatsuo (Tamaki) Fujimoto; sisters Hisako (Masayoshi) Matoo, Masako Fujimoto and sister-in-law Tokie (Toshio - deceased) Fujimoto.
