90, of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Pearl City Nursing Home. Born and raised in Pepeekeo, Hawaii, Mako lived most of his life in Honolulu with his family. He retired from Pan American Airways and the University of Hawaii Athletic Department. He lived his life to the fullest by traveling to many countries, earned a shiatsu and reflexology massage license and enjoyed massaging family and friends. In his retirement years Mako and Ayako enjoyed Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Ayako, daughter Kim Uyehara, son-in-law, Rodney Uyehara, sisters, Michie Asato, Tsuyako (Sim) Seiki and many loving nephews and nieces. Visitation will at 5:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m on September 15, 2017 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary.

Bernice Lum Wong

Peacefully passed away on August 10. She was 101 years of age. Bernice blessed us with her unconditional love and dedication to Jimmy, her husband who passed away in May. She will be remembered for her magical smile, positive attitude and kind words for all. She was renowned for her cooking and particularly her chiffon cake. Her fruit cakes and crochet pot scrubbers were eagerly awaited at Christmas time. She enjoyed playing mahjong with friends and singing songs such as pat-a-cake with young children. She lived life as a beautiful and loving person. A graduate of McKinley High School, class of 1934, she was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and auntie. She is survived by her sons, Dennis, Michael and Leo, six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren, as well as a brother, Bruno and a sister, Marietta. In honoring her request, services will be private.

CLIFFORD NORIMICHI TAKESONO, TURTLE 69, of Pearl City, a retired police lieutenant for the Honolulu Police Department, passed away on August 29, 2017. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; brothers, Jerald (Betsy) and Gordon (Wendy); sister, Jane (Shelby) Hyde; and by nieces and nephews. Visitation is at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. The service is at 6:00 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

95, of Honolulu, a retired seamstress for Tori Richard, Alfred Shaheen, Nani Sportswear and others, passed away on July 30, 2017. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by son, Ronnie S. (Thelma); daughters, June E. Saito of California, Pauline S. (Herman Minoru) Sumida; Sharen S. (Satoru) Oshiro and Shirlie S. (Glenn) Umeno; and by 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward "Sho." The family would like to thank Leahi Hospital for their care and compassion. Private services were held. No monetary gifts.
