Gary Haruo Jenkins

64, of Holualoa, HI, passed away on July 17, 2020. Born in Kealakekua, he was a handler for Aloha Air Cargo. Preceded in death by his father, Robert, he is survived by his mother, Alice (Inouye) Jenkins of Holualoa; brothers, Brian (Carvat) Jenkins of Holualoa and James (Kyoko) Jenkins of Kailua-Kona. Services are pending.

Gilbert Kam “Sonny”

Passed away on March 23, 2020 at the age of 89. Born in Kohala, Big Island, Gilbert served in the U.S. Army and was an electrician by trade with an expertise in television and electronics repair. He worked on film and tv productions including Hawaii 5-0, Magnum PI, The Movie Hawaii, Tora Tora Tora, Waterworld, Karate Kid, Tour of Duty to name a few.

He was also known for his production of the 'noni' juice which helped many people with various ailments.

He is survived by his sons, Eugene (JoAnn), Erik (Vickie) and Earle. Grandchilden: Leslie, Melissa, Kristie and Sara.

Jack Tsuneo Uyehara

"Jack" T. Uyehara was born in 1933 at the Paia Hospital in Paia, Maui, to parents, Kamesaburo and Tsuruko Uyehara. He was the second son of 6 children.


In 1952, Jack graduated from McKinley High School and went on to the University of Hawaii for 2 1/2 years before joining the army for two years, the last year spent in Korea. After returning from Korea, he finished his studies at the University of Hawaii, graduating in 1959 with a degree in Zoology.

After spending two years in San Francisco, Jack returned to Hawaii and started working for Texaco, eventually managing a small station on the Windward side.

In 1967, he was asked by his father, Kamesaburo, to help Aloha Tofu Factory get back on its feet after a fire wiped out the factory. Jack agreed, and along with his other siblings and parents continued the tradition of providing fresh tofu and soy products in the islands.

Jack enjoyed coaching youth baseball, golfing, and travelling with friends.

Survived by brother Roy (Joanne) Uyehara and sisters, Jane Uyehara and Nancy Uyehara.

He is also survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara, daughters Wendy (Eric) Tsutsui, Marcy (Russell Siu) Uyehara, and son Paul (Misa) Uyehara, and grandchildren Elyse, Jenna, Kent and Kai.

Our sincere mahalo to all the support and love Jack has experienced in his rich life. We are especially grateful to the Aloha Tofu Factory Ohana, the McKinley Class of 1952, and the medical staffs of Queen's, Straub, and Kaiser Hospitals, as well as the staff at Hale Malamalama and the caregivers at Bristol Hospice.

John H. Tippin

Age 74, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2020. He was an Army Vietnam veteran. He retired as Safety Manager from the U. S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Stella; daughter, Liberty J; grandchildren Morgan, Gideon, Rowan; sister, Carla Horning. John, you will be in our hearts forever.

Roy Masao Shiraki

Roy Masao Shiraki, of Honolulu, passed away on March 5, 2020 at the age of 80. Born and raised in Honolulu with his two brothers, Earl (Barbara) and Stanley (Sharon). Retired accountant with the State of Hawaii Judiciary. Survived by wife Linda, daughters Rochelle and Christine. Private services due to pandemic gathering restrictions.

Takemi Miyashiro

92, of Aiea, passed away on April 10, 2020. Born in Laupahoehoe, HI, he retired as Vice President of Loans for Central Pacific Bank. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Miyamoto) Miyashiro, he is survived by his daughter Patti Miyashiro; son Miles (Paula) Miyashiro, granddaughter Kellie, and daughter Jeri (Herb Jr.) Caspelich. Private service held.

Yoshie K. Izuo

Yoshie Kuniyuki Izuo, passed away on July 14, 2020 at the age of 97. She was born in Honolulu on October 14, 1922. She is survived by a daughter, Louise (Alan) Yonemori, a grand- daughter, and two great-grand- children. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and caregivers, Tomasa, Ben and Brent Tapat. Private service. If desired, a contribution may be made to Kuakini Foundation or Catholic Charities in her name.

Preceded in death by parents, Masao and Ellen, he is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Jody; son, Michael (Jennifer); grandchildren, India, Sage and Rylee; sisters, Margie Cabugon and Pamela Tsuru.
