Yoshi Tsukayama

Yoshi, 95, of Kailua, O'ahu, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020. She was born in Hilo, Hawai'i and moved to O'ahu to enroll in business school. She worked as a bookkeeper at Kailua Furniture and later at Hawaiian Island Creations, where she worked until her late 80's. Her husband Conrad preceded her in death. They raised 4 sons: Stephen (Lisa), John (Anna), Jimmy (Gail), and Alvin (Mary), and have 5 grandchildren: Harumi, Coral, Daniel, Kimi, and Ansje, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers George and Susumo Shiroma (Elaine), her sister-in-law Amy Shiroma and her brother-in-law Saiji Zakimi. Yoshi was an active member of the Kailua United Methodist Church where her private services will be live-streamed on July 10, 2020 at 9:00 am ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WTr4-zN1xvA&feature=youtu.be ). The service will be followed by a private burial service at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.

Age 85, of Honolulu, HI, passed away May 30, 2020 at Nagomi Foster Homes. She was a barber and the former owner of 8th Avenue Barbershop. She was born in Yamaguchi, Japan and survived by daughter, Alice (Richard) Ige, grandson, Dallas, brothers, Motoyuki Nishiyama, Junichi (Masako) Nishiyama and sister, Toshiko Otani. She was predeceased by her husband Ishio. Private services were held. The family would like to thank the staff of Sakura House Adult Daycare and Nagomi Foster Homes for providing a caring environment during her golden years.

92, of Pauoa, passed away on May 14, 2020. Born in Honolulu, he retired from Pearl Harbor where he worked as an electrical engineer. He was a kind grand- father, a generous father and a loving husband. Preceded in death by wife, Harriet, he was one of 14 siblings and is survived by sister, Jane Yoshino; daughters, Kathy (Byron) Oyadomari and Mary (Robert) Howell and sons, John (Catherine) Itai and David (Dawn) Itai; grandchildren, ryan (Jeanette) Oyadomari, Natalie Oyadomari, Amanda Tayna, Cara, Donovan and Dillon Itai and Kelly Howell; great-grandchild, Max Oyadomari. Private service held.

Age 99, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2020. Born in North Kohala. Retired Corporate Secretary at MTL. Survived by children Marvin (Audrey) Awaya, Diane (Stanley) Morioka, Gayle Morimoto, four grandchildren, and sister Aiko Takemoto. Predeceased by husband Susumu.

No service will be held. Her ashes will be placed at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl at a later date.

The family requests no monetary offerings.

Norman David Abe

Lifetime Aiea resident and former Board of Water Supply Engineer, passed away on February 5th, 2020. Born May 26, 1967, and raised on the Island of Oahu, "Norm" attended Maryknoll Schools from grades K-12, Leeward Community College, and later graduating from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Engineering. Norm was an avid bowler, golfer, skillful fisherman, and "doggie daddy." He had the ability to learn and set out to master anything that drew his attention. His presence will truly be missed. Preceded in death by his parents, Norm is survived by his brother Michael, nieces/nephews Michelle (John), Destini, Jaden and Ryder, many cousins, and current fur baby, Maia. Norm was also godparent to the Sanchez family triplets, Nadia, Olivia and Sophia, all of whom will now deeply miss their "Uncle Norm." Private services will be held.

89, of Honolulu, a retired professional relations consultant for HMSA, passed away on April 11, 2020 at Hale Ola Kino. He was born in Wailuku, Maui. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; son, Russell (Sandra); daughters, Christine (Randall) Johnson and Kathryn (Steve) Palanca; and grandchildren, Ryan and Naomi Uyeno, and Cameron, Malia, and Carly Johnson. Private inurnment services were held on June 1, 2020.
