Milton T. Hiura

Age 62, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2017. Born and raised on the island of Hawaii, Milton graduated Valedictorian Class of 1973 at Hilo High School. He earned a degree in Business Administration and, later, an Executive MBA degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He began his professional career in 1977 at Touche Ross & Co., then served as the accounting manager at KACOR, where he was involved with real estate development in Hawaii Kai, including the shopping center, golf course, tennis center and marina. In 1983, at the age of 28 Milton was named accounting manager for Campbell Estate. His tenure there included the transformative sale and development of Campbell lands in the Kapolei-West Oahu area, as well as the transition of Campbell Estate to the James Campbell Company, where he served as Vice President and Controller - a position that he held for the past 10 years. Milton's community involvements included the UH College of Business Administration Alumni and Friends and the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, amongst others. He is survived by wife, Carol Hiura Kato; mother, Satomi Hiura; sister, Karen Konishi; brother, Arnold Hiura, and nephews and nieces. His memorial service will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Sunday, October 22, visitation 3 p.m.; services at 4 p.m.

Stephen Masami Higashi

55, of Aiea, a line service jet fueler with Hawaiian Airlines, passed away on September 24, 2017 at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by his brother, Stanley; and by companion, Darilyn Cristobal. Visitation is at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. The service is at 10:00 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

86, of Kaneohe, passed away on September 17, 2017. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired building inspector for the State of Hawaii and a retired electrician. He was the founder of Hodokan Judo Club and a member of the USJF Kata Development and Certification subcommittee. He is survived by his wife, Harumi "Harriet"; sons, Joel (Jina), Clint, Miles (Tina), Kevin (Myrna) and Reid (Joyce) Tsubota; 13 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; brothers, Allen (Virginia) and Stanley Tsubota and sister, Florence Sugioka. Private services held.

Kuniko Kobayashi

91, of Honolulu, retired owner and ballet instructor for Kobayashi Ballet, passed away on September 17, 2017 at Queen's Medical Center. She was born in Tokyo, Japan. She is survived by son, William (Claudia); daughters, Evelyn Kobayashi and Ruth Kobayashi; granddaughter, Erin Keiko Kobayashi; and sisters, Mitsu Hasegawa and Katsumi Harada. Visitation is at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. The service is at 10:00 a.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

Ruth Wakayo Fukumoto

94, of Pearl City passed away on September 22, 2017. She was born in Hanalei, Kauai, on January 8th, 1923 to Yonesaburo and Chika Funamoto Miyasaki. She is survived by sister, Katsuyo (James) Inafuku; brother, Hidemi (Doris) Miyasaki; children, Jean Reiko (Raymond) Hirano, Russell N. (Jean) Fukumoto, Charlotte T. Fukumoto and Dean N. Fukumoto; and by five grand- children and nine great-grand- children. Private services were held.

81 of Kaneohe, passed peacefully on September 22, 2017. Born and raised in Ahualoa, Hawaii. She retired from the C & C of Hnl Real Property Tax Maps Branch. She is survived by her sons, Roger, Gary; daughter, Sandy Ginto; one grandchild; brothers, Kenneth, Herbert, Lester Okunami; sisters, Sharon Yamasaki, Linda Whitcomb. Services will be October 22, 2017 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary; 11 AM visitation; 12 Noon service. We will truly miss her.

Beloved wife and mother passed away on September 10, 2017 at the age of 65. She retired from the State of Hawaii in 2009 with over thirty-eight years of service with several state departments. Her last position was with The Attorney General's Office as a legal assistant. She was born in Wailuku, Maui on October 5, 1951 to Tadashi and Natsue Oki (both deceased). She is survived by husband, Wayne S., daughter, Beth S., son, Marc S., sisters, Carol Mae Higa (Robert) and Linda Kajiwara (Paul), brother, Howard Oki (Donna), aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. Private services were held.

He is survived by his wife, Hannah; son, Kenneth (Carol); daughter, Susan; three grandchildren; sisters, Jean Hayashi and Norma (Rendell Hirano) Matsumoto. Private service held.
